...The right mind set is important in order to reach the correct solution...
If you intend to have a website

Try someone who is recommended by someone you know and who has had there website set up by these people and have a look to see if you like it.

Ask how many ‘hits’ they get from the website?

Ask if they can compare how much business has come directly from hits on their website and what proportion that is in relation to their overall new business?

Go onto Google, Yahoo and other servers and see how often your friend’s site appears and how high up the list they are against similar sights.

Choose a web designer that you can sit down and discuss your needs with.

Agree the cost and take time to think about it before agreeing.

Ask how the website can be updated and added to and the added cost of this (you may be able to update the website yourself once it has been set up).

Advertising your business

As soon as you register yourself as a new business you will be identified as a target for unscrupulous advertising companies.

Many of these companies will draw you in without telling you who they really are.  You may think that you are supporting a charity.

Never agree to anything over the phone.

Only make agreements to advertise with someone that you have approached first.
